No federally funded abortions...No health care

So the whole B.S about abortion being a personal decision has gone out the window. No more excuses for fake Catholics. Just like there are no excuses for the fake Catholics who ignored the Pope regarding the war on Iraq.

Obama To End The War?

Finally, after weeks of wrestling with the decision, Obama has decided to send 30,000 more troops into Afghanistan. Apparently Obama’s idea of change consists of managing to be indecisive for several weeks and then ultimately make the decision to carry on a Bush-era hawkish foreign policy. What ever happened to the anti-war left who were up in arms about the wars? Are they no longer anti-war now? Or maybe it's their guy who is continuing and expanding them? Was it all just partisan hypocrisy?

Now, how exactly are we going to finance this endeavor? Apparently the war surtax proposed by House Democrats that would add an additional 1% to 3% income tax increase to American families making less than 150,000$ annually has been shot down by Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi.

Pelosi told CNN, "I think the war has to be paid for. That may be one option, but I don't think that has a good prospect."

Note that Pelosi hasn’t taken the surtax off the table nor has she enlightened us on what the other options are. I suppose the other options would include continuing to borrow and print money to finance our empire and accumulate more and more costly debt or the war surtax will end up being pushed through and continue to break the back of the American middle class. Either way, working Americans will end up getting bamboozled.

The National Review's definition of very conservative

John Key! A man who admits he's more centrist then his somewhat more conservative predecessor Don Brash. Neither of the two are conservative in any sense of the word, yet Brash at least gave a modicum of conservative rhetoric when he was in the loyal opposition. They are both stewards of big government and big business working in tandem along with a welfare state. While the left in New Zealand does the phony "reform capitalism now" charade, the right does the "reform welfare" chicanery. Yet neither has been substantially curtailed and the main victim is the middle class Kiwis.

Here is Veronique de Rugy claiming John Key is "very conservative."

It should be noted that Veronique de Rugy is an economist and thus utterly incapable of considering herself and others anything but economic units. Her definition of "conservatism" is utterly warped. To Veronique, a "conservative" is one who loves big business and wants them to have free reign over the world without the interference of the "liberal" government. Paeans to small business, entrepreneurship and personal responsibility aside, this is the crux of her dogma. In this worldview, there is nothing outside the efficiency of the so-called "free-market." There are no individuals, no morality, no religion, nothing outside of economic calculations is of any value. Nations have become "markets" and citizens have become "consumers."

So let's meet-in the words of Veronique de Rugy-the "very conservative" Prime Minister of New Zealand.

In typical "conservative" fashion, he claims to be against gay marriage yet supports civil unions and gay adoption. He even went as far as to say he would go gay for Brad Pitt!

Key also goes to church "a lot" yet doesn't believe in God!

Yet, the "real conservatives" at National Review tell me he's a "real conservative!" Once again, fake conservatives call a fake conservative an example for the rest of us to follow.

R.I.P Ted Kennedy

I await another "Liberal Lion" to continue Ted's legacy in the United States Senate. It's vitally important we work to reform our broken immigration system, which Ted worked tirelessly to improve throughout his life. Ted even worked across the aisle with our great President George Bush and the maverick John McCain to help reform our broken immigration system. His passionate support of the Hart-Celler Act of 1965 was only the beginning of a lifelong pursuit of justice. It is my hope and prayer that Barack Obama will do his best to carry on Ted's legacy and with the help of Senator McCain and other patriots, we will finally correct our terribly unjust and racist immigration policies.

I will further genuflect on Kennedy's other legislative accomplishments in further posts. I hope to touch on his tireless efforts in support of gun control, his staunch support of Israel, his gallant efforts to increase federal control of education, his brave fight against extremist and anti-women Supreme Court appointments like Robert Bork and Clarence Thomas, his opposition to the bigotry inherent in the Defense of Marriage Act and his personal struggle against the "special interests" who wanted the Cape Wind project built less than 5 miles from his home. Also, we cannot forget Senator Kennedy's deep Catholic Faith which helped frame his passionate support for a woman's right to choose.

May the struggle live on in Ted's memory.

Hope

Obama recently passed H.R. 2346, a bill that provides 106 billion dollars in funding for the "war on terror".

President Obama is planning to send more than 20,000 additional troops into Afghanistan. For the first time next year, the annual cost of the occupation in Afghanistan is projected to exceed the cost of the occupation in Iraq. By the end of 2009 the number of American forces occupying Afghanistan is expected to be around 68,000, doubling the amount of the American forces that were there at the end of 2008.

The bill also includes legislation sponsored by Senators Joseph Lieberman (I-CT) and Lindsey Graham (R-SC), which provides the Secretary of Defense with the power to conceal photographic evidence of future acts of illegal torture by the military.

Yes America, this is change that we can all believe in.
